No. 20 Duhawks Dispose of Beavers

CARLINVILLE, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The 20th-ranked Loras men's basketball team capped off a 2-0 weekend in a non-conference bout with Blackburn on Sunday, winning 92-81. Jordan Boyd led the Duhawks in the scoring column, finishing with 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Ryan DiCanio hit the first field goal of the game, igniting a 9-0 run and forcing an early Beaver timeout
• Just past the 10 minute mark in the first half, Boyd slammed one home and then followed it up the next play by running the court for the transition layup
• With just over six minutes to play in the half, DiCanio swatted the Beaver layup off the glass and followed it up with a transition 3-pointer to push the Duhawk lead to 19
• The Beavers found their stroke from deep knocking down several quick triples to bring the Duhawk lead down to nine with 12 minutes to play
• Following a Blackburn layup, Jordan Matthews found Cole Navigato streaking down the court and finished with a posterized dunk over the Beaver defender
• Blackburn continued its hot shooting from deep and cut the Duhawk lead to five with minutes remaining
• Rowan McGowen helped to seal the victory with numerous rebounds down the stretch to quell the upset bid
