DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's volleyball team opened league play on Friday against No. 11 Mount St. Joseph, falling in three sets to the Lions.
Dylan Ross registered a team-best 14 kills, including seven in the third set.

Mount St. Joseph improves to 5-0 all-time against Loras
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Set One
- Leading 15-14, the Duhawks conceded six of the next eight points to give the Lions a lead at 20-17
- Loras fought back to bring the set to within two at 22-20, but Mount St. Joseph rattled off the final three points to take the opener, 25-20
Set Two
- The Duhawks dug themselves out of an early 4-0 hole to bring the set to a 7-6 scoreline favoring the Lions
- Mount St. Joseph built a seven-point gap at 21-14 and pushed through to the end, despite a 5-1 run from the Duhawks
Set Three
- An early 3-0 run highlighted by kills from
Greg Kinney and two from Ross leveled the set at 7-all
- The Lions responded with a 3-0 run of their own and never looked back, keeping the Loras comeback bid at bay, holding a two-point lead through to the end
TEAM NOTABLES
- The two sides combined for 29 kills in the final set
- Friday marked the first match in program history that the Duhawks did not record a service ace
- Loras dropped to 1-4 in its last five and 1-4 when hitting under .200 as a team

Ross led the offense on Friday, totaling 14 kills which included seven in the final set, bringing his career total to 614. Ross remains as the all-time kills leader in program history.
