Softball Splits at Augustana Triangular

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras softball team took the opener in walk-off fashion on Friday, defeating UW-Platteville, 5-4. In the nightcap, Augustana handed the Duhawks their second loss of the season, 7-2.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED - Loras vs. UW-Platteville
- The Pioneers opened the scoring in the top of the third with an RBI double, only to be answered in the home half by Ashley Lentine's RBI double that scored Bria Lenten
- UW-Platteville loaded the bases in the top of the fifth and added two runs to its total to take the 3-1 lead
- After the Pioneers tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh, Loras faced a three-run deficit with three outs to work with
- Maddie Doubek's RBI single plated Lenten who drew a walk to start the inning
- Back-to-back singles by Shannon Coyle and Lauren Fritz tied the game at 4-all
- With the winning run 60 feet from scoring, Hadalyn Anderson singled home the game-winner
- Emma Corkill improved to 2-1 this season after throwing 2.0 innings of relief

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED - Loras vs. Augustana
- The Vikings wasted little time getting their offense in motion, striking for two runs in the home half of the first
- Lentine blasted her third home run of the season in the fifth inning, cutting Augustana's lead in half
- Two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth expanded the Vikings lead from 2-1 to 7-1, with all scoring plays coming on extra-base hits
- Anderson led off the seventh with a double and later came around to score off a groundout by Melanie Gerbig

- Coyle, Lentine and Hannah Towns are the only three players on Loras' roster that have not struck out with a minimum of 15 at-bats
