Baseball Settles for Split with Trine

WESTFIELD, Ind. (Duhawks.com) - In the return to midwest baseball, Loras settled for a split on Saturday against Trine, winning the opener 10-3 and dropping the nightcap, 5-1. Danny Weis went 3-for-4 in game one with two doubles and two RBIs.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Game One
- The Duhawks opened the game by scoring a run early in the top of the second
- Loras added five runs in the third inning with a double by Weis and a triple by Thomas Greffly
- The Duhawks added two run in the fifth inning after a two-base error by Trine
- Loras extended their lead with a run from Danny Paluch off a single from Luke Fennlley
- Trine got on the board in the bottom of the sixth to bring the score to 9-1 in favor of the Duhawks
- Nick Spiess takes his record to 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA after striking out four in 7.0 innings of work

Game Two
- The Duhawks loaded the bases in the bottom of the first with nobody out, but left all three runners on base after the Thunder struck out two and forced a third into a line out
- In the top of the third, Trine went up 2-0 after a wild pitch and an RBI single
- Loras scored one run in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly from Luke Fennelly
- Trine added two runs in the top of the sixth off a two RBI single to bring the lead to 5-1
- Hovey took the loss and dropped to 1-1 this season … Through 18.1 innings, Hovey has allowed three earned runs while striking out 16
