Thompson's Grand Slam Leads Duhawks Past Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - Cole Thompson and Ryan Koester each blasted home runs for the Duhawks on Sunday, leading Loras to the series win over Simpson, 7-1. Robert Hovey earned his second win of the season while Aidan Wojciehowski pitched 4.0 innings of relief while racking up seven strikeouts.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- Loras opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, beginning with back-to-back walks to Jake Oglesby and Danny Paluch … Richard Bryza moved the runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt and Luke Fennelly delivered on an 0-1 pitch back up the middle, scoring two
- In the fourth, Simpson threatened with runners at second and third with one out but failed to score following a strong defensive showing to keep the runner from scoring
- Thomas Greffly singled in the bottom of the fourth and moved to third after walks to Luke Fennelly and Austin Konagel … On the first pitch he saw, Cole Thompson blasted a curve ball over the left field wall for the grand slam
- Koester took advantage of a 1-0 mistake in the bottom of the seventh, smashing a no-doubter for his second home run of the season
- Robert Hovey improved to 2-2 this season after scattering four hits over 5.0 innings while striking out five
- Aidan Wojciehowski recorded his second save of the season, throwing 4.0 innings and struck out seven
