Softball Erupts for 20 Runs Against Colby

CLERMONT, Fla. (Duhawks.com) - After scoring 13 runs in the first inning against Colby, the Loras softball team rolled on to a 20-3 win on Monday, improving to 8-8 this season. In the opener, the Duhawks fell to UW-Stevens Point, 2-1.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED - UW-STEVENS POINT 
- Scoreless until the bottom of the third, Stevens Point powered a double to right center in the first at-bat which ended up scoring off of an error by the Duhawks
- In the top of the fourth, Melanie Gerbig came up big with an RBI single to right center to tie the score at 1-1
- Emily Reilly in the bottom of the fifth threw a four pitch, three-up three-down inning to hold on to the tie going into the sixth

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED - COLBY
- Loras came out hot with a monstrous first inning, scoring 13 runs … The inning consisted of eight hits including RBI singles from Gerbig, Shannon Coyle and Savannah Fowler while Shanon Masino blasted a three-RBI double … The inning included with nine stolen bases including Bria Lenten stealing home twice
- An RBI double by Hannah Towns started another rally by the Duhawks that included two hits and five runs
- Colby managed to get two runs back in the top of the third with a pair of walks and a single
- Loras had no problems getting those runs back as Lenten had an RBI triple who later scored off a basehit by Fowler

NOTABLES
- Loras drew a season-high eight walks as a team on Monday and set a season-high with 11 stolen bases
- Lenten extended her team-best hitting streak to eight games and recorded her fourth multiple-RBI game of the season
- Towns tied her career-high with two doubles against Colby

Loras returns to the diamond on Wednesday with games against Mount Mary and Middlebury. First pitch against the Blue Angels is scheduled for 9 a.m. (ET).
