Duhawks Swept by Dutch

PELLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras softball team dropped to 1-3 in conference this season after a pair of losses to No. 23 Central on Wednesday. Hadalyn Anderson recorded a pair of base hits while driving in a run to lead the Duhawks.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Game 1
- Central struck for three runs in the bottom of the first, taking control of the game on three hits despite leaving two on base
- Hannah Towns roped a two-out double to left field in the fourth and was lifted for a pinch-runner in Maddie Doubek … Lauren Fritz singled up the middle to score Doubek and cut the deficit to two
- The Dutch fired back immediately, plating three runs in the home half of the fourth, opening a 6-1 lead
- Down to their final three outs, the Duhawks crafted together four hits in the seventh, scoring one run, but that was all the offense could muster, as Loras fell 7-2

Game 2
- A leadoff walk to Central in the first proved to be the difference in the game, as that was the lone run to score all game
- The Duhawks moved runners into scoring position in both the second and third innings, but couldn't drive them in
- Savannah Fowler reached on a bunt single in the seventh and after a single by Anderson came around third aiming to score before being thrown out at the plate to end the game

NOTABLES
- Regan Wolverton brought her career hit total to 98 on Wednesday, tallying a pair of singles
- Bria Lenten had her 11-game hitting streak snapped, as well as her 11-game streak of reaching base safely, as did Ashley Lentine and Lauren Fritz
- Loras fell to 3-5 this season in one-run games
- Wednesday was the first loss this season for the Duhawks when allowing one run

- The senior moved two hits closer to the century mark on Wednesday while tallying the eighth double of her career

After a night at home, Loras travels to Decorah on Thursday for a doubleheader against fifth-ranked Luther. The Norse opened their IIAC schedule on Wednesday with a sweep against Buena Vista. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
