Duhawks Fall in Extra Inning Battle

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras softball team dropped a single game in nine innings on Monday against St. Ambrose, 11-9. Hannah Towns led the Duhawks with four hits and three RBIs including a ninth inning RBI double. 

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- Loras jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double by Savannah Fowler
- A four-run third inning by the Bees erased the lead
- The Duhawks held a 7-6 lead going into the seventh, but St. Ambrose rallied to take the lead
- Shannon Coyle blasted her third-career home run in the bottom of the seventh to push the game to extras
- Neither side managed to break through the deadlock in the eighth
- The Bees plated three runs in the top of the ninth and Loras' comeback bid acme short, falling 11-9

NOTABLES
- Coyle tied a season-high with her first home run of the season ... The junior now has 96 career hits heading into the postseason
- Bria Lenten started her 150th consecutive game of her career on Monday, matching her season-high for games in a season
- Ashley Lentine moved to within five hits of 100 for her career

Loras takes on fourth-seeded Nebraska Wesleyan in the opening round of the 2018 Iowa Conference Softball Tournament on Friday, May 4 at 2 p.m. The Prairie Wolves won both games in the regular season against the Duhawks by scores of 4-2 and 2-1.
