Duhawks Soar Past Beavers for Series Sweep

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras baseball team found their bats once again against Buena Vista, pounding 16 runs on 12 hits to improve to 22-13 and 11-9 in the Iowa Conference. Of the 12 hits, three of them were home runs which came from Danny Paluch, Danny Weis, and a grand slam by Jake Oglesby.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- Loras opened up the gates in the first inning scoring the first run of the game and later added another three in the second off Paluch's second career home run and an RBI single from Fennelly
- In the top of the fourth, the Duhawks surged for five runs with the help of Oglesby's grand slam giving Loras an 11-0 lead
- The Duhawks added to their large lead with another four runs in the seventh from a three RBI double from Chris Haring
- Brad Schwind threw 5.0 innings allowing only three hits but striking out six as he earned his seventh win of the season

NOTABLES
- As a team, Loras slugged three home runs for the first time since April 9, 2016 against Luther
- Koester tied a season-high with his 40th hit, bringing his career total to 110 … The senior needs seven RBIs to tie his previous season-best

- The West Chicago native batted in 2 RBIs finishing 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.

UP NEXT
Loras travels to Pella for the final series of the regular season against Central on Friday, May 4. The Dutch enter with a 16-18 overall record and are 7-11 in the IIAC. Prior to the weekend series, Central faces Coe for a doubleheader on Wednesday. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3 p.m.
