Women's Volleyball Stumbles to Cornell

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - Fresh off a 3-1 weekend at its home invite, the Loras women's volleyball team struggled to find its groove on Wednesday night, falling in four to Cornell. Kayla Kinney turned in her fourth consecutive double-double in the loss, finishing with 15 kills and 13 digs.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Loras held set point in the opening frame at 25-24 before the Rams reeled off three straight points by kill, service ace and an attacking error by the Duhawks
• In Set 2, Loras regained its composure and fought back from a 16-12 deficit to level matters at 22-all after an 10-6 run … Level once again at 24-all, Jenna LaCorte put away back-to-back kills to lift Loras to the Set 2 win
• Tied at 6-all in Set 3, Cornell regained the upper hand with a 15-3 run, which featured a 5-0 and 4-0 run by the Rams .. Cornell eventually took the 2-1 lead in the match, winning the third set, 25-12
• Trailing 15-11, a Duhawk timeout was enough to shift control back to Loras tallied three straight points, two coming off Ram errors
• Facing match point, Kinney's 15th kill of the night kept Loras alive, but it would be short-lived as Cornell closed the book with a kill on the very next point

NOTABLES
• The Duhawks fell to 2-2 this season in four-set matches
• Loras is 0-2 when earning four or fewer service aces
• Wednesday marked the second-fewest blocks by the Duhawks in a match this season, second only to a 3-0 win against Manchester on opening weekend
• Kayla Kinney is nine kills away from 300 for her career
• Kelly Boge needs three blocks to reach 30 this season

FRIEDMAN PLAYER OF THE GAME- KAYLA KINNEY
