Duhawks Throttle Wisconsin Lutheran

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's soccer team left no doubt on Saturday of its offensive potential, striking for six goals and finishing with 33 shots against Wisconsin Lutheran. Ryleigh O'Brien led the charge offensively with a brace in the first half and later added an assist.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Once the Duhawks found their stride, they never looked back, which resulted in immense offensive pressure in the attacking third
Brynn Jacobi opened the scoring in the ninth minute, running onto a flicked header by Gretchen Schutz … Once inside the penalty area, Jacobi slotted home what would prove to be the match-winner
• O'Brien tallied the first of her first two goals in the 26th minute, picking up a turnover in the middle of the pitch and dribbling into the penalty area before beating the goalkeeper
• Minutes later, O'Brien made it 3-0 in favor of Loras with her third goal of the season after Elizabeth Mills' initial shot was saved and the rebound fell to the feet of O'Brien
• The offensive onslaught continued for the Duhawks in the second half, adding 16 more shots to their total, resulting in three more goals
• Kiki Cabrera finished off the scoring chance created by O'Brien for her second goal of the season
• With Loras turning to the depth of its bench, Hannah Mirimanian connected with Abby Reding off a punt, to which Reding fought off her defender to score and make it 5-0
• With less than 10 minutes to go, Megan McElmeel capped the offensive onslaught with her first of the year on an assist from Bridget Whitney

NOTABLES
• The last 6-0 win for Loras was Oct. 4, 2014 versus Buena Vista
• With the win, the Duhawks improve to 1-0-0 all-time against Wisconsin Lutheran
• Five of Loras' six matches this season have included a shutout for either team

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME - RYLEIGH O'BRIEN
The United Township prep took another significant step in her career, securing the first half brace and adding an assist, bringing her season point total to seven
