ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's volleyball team suffered a pair of defeats on Saturday to Augustana and Alma, dropping to 9-4 this season. Moria Mixan finished with eight kills against the Scots.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• In the first set, after fighting to level ground at 9-all, the Duhawks went on a 11-3 run with
Kayla Kinney at the service line … Augustana showed a brief sign of life before Loras pushed through to the end, winning 25-20
• The Vikings came back in the second set with a vengeance,defeating the Duhawks 25-23 in a set that saw 15 ties and sevenlead changes
• Augustana carried over its momentum from the second set into the third, take a 2-1 lead in the match
• A quick 3-0 run by Loras in the fourth set opened just enough of a gap to provide some breathing room, with the Duhawks eventually forcing a fifth set with a 25-21 win
• The final set was controlled by the Vikings from the start… Starting off on a 4-0 run, the Vikings never looked back, taking the fifth, 15-9Â
• Following up their two previous wins on the weekend, Almacame out attacking from the start as they quickly took the first two sets 25-15
• The Duhawks did not go down quietly as they fought their way back in a closely contested 3rd set that ultimately ended 26-24 in favor of the Scots

Loras returns to action on Tuesday at Coe for the American Rivers Conference opener. The Kohawks are 10-3 following a 3-0 weekend at the the UW-Platteville Tournament. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
