DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's soccer team shed a much-needed weight off its shoulders on Wednesday night, routing Iowa Wesleyan in the Rock Bowl, 7-0.
Jack Grimes slotted home his first career collegiate goal, while adding a pair of assists to his state line.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Less than 75 seconds into Wednesday's contest, the Duhawks were already on the scoresheet thanks to
Marcus Singleton's second of the season ... Singleton met the bouncing ball from
Ian Lenke near the far post and got just enough on his shot to push it past the goalkeeper
• Ten minutes later, it was
Mark Broderick who grazed the low-cross from
Ryan Ross, redirecting it past the goalkeeper for his first of the season
• In the 20th minute, Ross kept his composure and dribbled to the middle of the pitch before unleashing a left-footed bender to the top corner
• Leading 4-0,
Jack Grimes' throw-in came back to his feet at the corner of the 18, without much hesitation, Grimes pinged his shot off the post and into the back of the net
• Grimes collected his second assist of the evening minutes into the second half after serving a ball deep into the Iowa Wesleyan defensive zone ..
Leonardo Bellingeri ran under it and with his left, slotted home the winner
