DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - It may not have been how head coach
Dan Rothert drew it up in his pre-match plan, but the Loras men's soccer team delivered when it mattered most, scoring twice within a two-minute window, to improve to 2-0-0 in the American Rivers Conference.
Manny Lopez netted the equalizer in the 70th minute followed by an absolute gem from
Ryan Pacholski in the 72nd.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Out of the gates, the Duhawks appeared to be in position to continue where they left off on Wednesday, targeting four shots on target in the first 30 minutes ... It was Nebraska Wesleyan who opened the scoring, taking advantage of a miscommunication by the Loras backline on a corner kick
• It would take 32 minutes and nine more shots before the Duhawks managed to break through ... Following a corner kick by the Prairie Wolves,
Jesse Buffington launched his punt past midfield where after a poor touch by the Nebraska Wesleyan midfielder,
Manny Lopez corralled the bouncing ball and dance around the goalkeeper before slotting home the winner with the left foot
• Before the fans could return to their seats, the Duhawks took the lead for the first time in the match after a free kick from
Tiernan Talbot connected with
Miles McDonnell inside the penalty area ... McDonnell's header went outside the box and before it could touch the ground, Pacholski struck gold on the full volley
NOTABLES
• Pacholski's goal was the first of his career in his 58th career match
• Buffington improved to 7-1-0 in his career
