No. 22 Women's Soccer Silenced by Tommies

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - For the second time in its first three games, the Loras women's soccer team was held off the scoresheet, suffering a 3-nil setback at the hands of St. Thomas. Kaylee Coble recorded her third consecutive match with at least four saves, setting a season-high with five.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- The Tommies nearly opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a pair of shots from inside the 18, but Coble came off her line to make both saves
- In the 18th minute, Gretchen Schutz delivered a corner kick into the box and after it bounced around, Jenny Wick delivered a header on target that challenged the St. Thomas keeper
- The Tommies broke through with the first goal of the match in the 31st minute after Loras was unable to clear the ball from its own end
- After dancing through her defender, Elizabeth Mills fed Kiki Cabrera with a quick pass, but Cabrera's attempt sailed high over the bar minutes into the second half
- St. Thomas added an insurance goal in the 75th minute after a pass from the far side of the six came to the middle
- The third and final Tommie goal came in the 86th minute after St. Thomas beat Loras' back line to open a shooting lane

NOTABLES
- Tuesday's loss marks the first time since 2006 that Loras has been shutout in two of its first three contests of the season
- The Duhawks fall to 2-3-1 all-time against St. Thomas

Loras continues its season-opening home stand on Saturday with a match against Saint Mary's. The Duhawks are 5-1-0 all-time against the Cardinals with Saturday serving as the first meeting since 2013 between the two programs. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
