Mark Broderick secured the 2-1 overtime victory for Loras College men's soccer team against Wartburg College on Tuesday night.
Loras (11-4-1, 3-2-0) went down a goal in the 54th minute when the Knights' Max Slade-Cox scored on a counter to put the Duhawks in a hole with the windy field conditions. Wind gusts registered over 16 mph in Tuesday's match.
The Duhawks led in shots (20-14), saves (6-5), and corner kicks (5-2). Loras controlled the two overtime periods as they took five shots to Wartburg's zero. Duhawk keeper
Jesse Buffington had a season-high six saves in Tuesday's contest.
Broderick equalized with 47 seconds remaining in regulation to bring the score even at 1-1. Broderick also scored the game-winner in the second overtime to give Loras the 2-1 road win.Â
Loras returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Duhawks will host the Simpson College Storm in the Rock Bowl. First kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.Â
