October 29, 2019 - After holding the Warhawks until the 31st minute, and coming back from a one-goal deficit, the 24th-ranked Loras College men's soccer team fought despite falling 4-3 to UW-Whitewater in final seconds. The Duhawks move to 14-5-1 (6-2-0 A-R-C) and turn their attention to the American Rivers Conference tournament.Â
Warhawk forward Joey Pumo slotted one past the Duhawk keeper in the 31st minute to put UW-Whitewater ahead 1-0. After a flurry at the net,
Alex Herrera's header bounced off of the back of the Warhawk keeper Jake King to tie it at 1-1 in the 42nd minute.Â
UW-Whitewater regained the lead in the 52nd minute sending a shot to the back of the net. The Duhawks responded just 30 seconds after thanks to
Manny Lopez's cross to find
Kody Rife for the 2-2 equalizer.Â
SilvioGkizas gave Loras their first lead of the night in the grabbing the sending his own saved shot back into the net to put the Duhawks up 3-2. The Warhawks brought the score even at 3-3 in the 86th minute and took the lead 4-3 with less than 30 seconds to remaining in regulation.
The Duhawks finish the regular season as the American Rivers Conference men's soccer runner-ups and secure a first-round bye in the A-R-C conference tournament for the 14th consecutive year.
