Duhawks Cruise to Victory Over Vikings

CHICAGO, ILL. (Duhawks.com) - It was all Duhawks from start to finish in Chicago on Friday night as the Loras men's volleyball team improved to 10-1 this season with a 3-0 sweep against North Park. The hot-hitting Duhawks cruised to the win thanks to a team attack percentage of .391 with Grant Ooms and Ian Walsh splitting 18 kills each.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Following a slow start, the Duhawks rallied for a 10-1 run on the back of Leo Peters' six consecutive serves, exploding out of the gates to an early lead
• Mihajlo Gomez and Ian Walsh rose up for the emphatic rejection and Grant Ooms matched them with a solo block the very next play
• Alfredo Lopez fed the hot hand in Ooms, who placed his kill perfectly between the North Park defenders
• With Loras leading 20-14 in the second set, Leo Peters slammed home the feed from Lopez before rejecting the North Park attacker with Ian Walsh, thwarting any Viking momentum
• Walsh had a strong second set with four of his game high nine kills coming in the set
• Lopez got the third set rolling for the Duhawks with a service ace, sparking a 7-2 run
• Richard Hernandez closed out the third set just like the Duhawks started it, with an ace

NOTABLES
• The Duhawks held North Park to a .000 attack percentage … The Vikings were limited to 17 kills, the fewest allowed by Loras this season in a single match
• Alfredo Lopez has recorded 30-plus assists in eight of his last 11 matches
• At .391, the Duhawks recorded their highest attack percentage of the season and third-best in program history
• Ooms finished with a career-high four blocks on Friday, which included one solo stop

UP NEXT
