DUBUQUE, IOWA (Duhawks.com) - The Loras Women's Softball team split with Carthage on Senior Night. Loras defeated Carthage 2-1 in the first game, while being bested in the second game 10-7.
Ashley Lentine and
Madison Franks led the Duhawks with three runs.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Game 1: Loras 2, UW-Oshkosh 1
• The game was steady at zero in the first inning as it remained scoreless. The Titans struck first in the second inning scoring just one run.
• The Duhawks equalized in the third inning thanks to Lentine's sacrifice fly to bat in Franks.
• Lentine then hit a home run to center field in the sixth inning, the Duhawks kept their lead and closed out the first game 2-1.
Game 2: UW-Oshkosh 10, Loras 7
• UW-Oshkosh took an early 1-0 lead at the top of the first, and the Duhawks tied it at 1-1 after Madison Gerbig walked to advance Lentine for the run.
• Two more runs were tallied by both teams in the second inning,
Jade Besler scored on a error from the Titan third baseman while
Noely Baumann batted in Franks for Loras' second run of the inning. LOR 3, UWO 3.
• Oshkosh went on a run in the third inning and jumped out to a 9-3 lead.
• The Duhawks answered in the fourth inning with a 2-0 run of their own to cut the Titans led to 9-5.
• Oshkosh picked up one run in the fifth inning while two Duhawks crossed the plate in the sixth to cut the lead to just three. UWO 10, LOR 7
• The Duhawks weren't able to close the gap as neither team scored in the seventh, and Carthage secured the second game 10-7.
