CHICAGO (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's volleyball team returned to its winning ways on Friday night with a 3-0 sweep of Illinois Tech. Loras jumped on them early with Leo Peters leading the team with 14 kills on 23 attempts.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Trailing 4-3 early in the first set, Ian Walsh sent home the Alfredo Lopez feed, sparking a 9-2 Loras run
• Mihajlo Gomez pushed the Duhawks to set point before Andres Martinez finished the frame
• The Duhawks' strong defense held Illinois Tech to a -.034 attack percentage in the first set
• Just like the first, Loras utilized a 9-2 run early in the second set, extending their lead to 11-5
• Peters rejected the Scarlet Hawks' attack, which once again gave the Duhawks set point … Holding set point, a service error brought the run to an end, 25-21
• Loras went on a quick 5-1 run late in the third set to set them up for the finish
• David Beach subbed into the game and made an immediate impact setting up Ian Walsh for the final kill of the evening

NOTABLES
• Loras hit over .400 as a team for the first time this season and was eight percentage points off the the program record for attack percentage in a game
• Leo Peters recorded an attack percentage over .400 for the fourth time this season
• Alfredo Lopez recorded 30-plus assists for the 13th time this season

Loras heads to Watertown, Wis. for a triangular with Viterbo and Maranatha Baptist. The Sabercats are 1-19 while the V-Hawks sit at 1-12. Their match with Viterbo is slated for 1:00 p.m. start while the night cap against Maranatha is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
