WATERTOWN, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's volleyball team closed out its weekend road trip on a high note, collecting a pair of three-set sweeps against Viterbo and Marantha Baptist. Mihajlo Gomez was the spark that the Duhawks needed, finishing the afternoon with a team-best nine service aces.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
VITERBO
• Loras went up early on Viterbo at 9-4 but the V-Hawks responded with an 8-2 run to go up 12-11
• Andres Martinez slammed home the Alfredo Lopez feed to give Loras a two point lead that was just enough to stave off Viterbo
• On the back of Gomez' three service aces, Loras jumped on the V-Hawks quickly to the tune of a 12-2 run
• Holding a 14-point lead, Patrick Hollander found Dalton Oberfoell for the first kill of his career and the second set victory
• Tied at 2-2, Richard Hernandez subbed into the match and quickly set up Jonathan Quinn to take the lead.
• Late in the set, Grant Ooms led the Duhawks on a quick 5-2 run at 19-16, stifling any hopes of a V-Hawk comeback.

MARANATHA BAPTIST
• Gomez wasted no time getting the Duhawks going with a pair of service aces to open the match
• Leo Peters sent home back-to-back service aces to bump the Loras lead up to 7-2 before the Duhawks took things home with the 25-13 first set victory
• Austin Kuchenbecker made his presence known in the second set with a first point hammer
• Walsh had kill then a service ace at 7-5
• After Maranatha tied things up at five a-piece, Ian Walsh recorded a kill and a service ace in consecutive plays to spark a 6-2 Duhawk run
• Just like the first set, the Duhawks would end up cruising to a 25-16 second set victory
• Maranatha gave the Duhawks everything they could handle to start set number three as they jumped out to a 12-16 lead
• Jonathan Quinn put an end to the Sabercats run with a strong finish off the Patrick Hollander feed, igniting a 10-0 Duhawk run thanks in part to two Loras service aces.

• The Duhawks held a team to an attack percentage below .100 for the sixth time this season
• Loras' attack percentage of .483 versus the Sabercats was a season-high
