June 18, 2026

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Director of Athletics Denise Udelhofen ('90) has announced the hiring of Tyler Donovan as the next head coach of the Loras College men's volleyball program.

"Tyler is a wonderful addition to our athletic staff," Udelhofen said. "He brings great energy, a genuine passion for the sport of volleyball, and the leadership qualities needed to guide our men's program. He has a bright future ahead as a coach, and I look forward to working alongside him as he begins his career as a head coach."

Donovan comes to Loras after spending last season as the assistant coach for the North Central College (Ill.) men's volleyball program.

"I want to thank Denise and the rest of the Loras athletics community for this opportunity," Donovan said. "I couldn't be more excited to get to work with this group of student-athletes and build on the strong foundation and recent success of the program. I look forward to developing meaningful relationships and helping our student-athletes grow as human beings as we strive for excellence and compete for championships. I look forward to joining the Duhawk family!"

Prior to joining the Cardinals staff, Donovan had a successful playing career for NCC. The 2023 American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-American Setter ranks second all-time in assists at North Central, with 2,362. He also ranks third all-time in blocks (178), digs (493), and service aces with 67. He finished his playing career as a 2x AVCA All-Region selection, a 2x College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin First Team All-Conference selection and was a 3x College Sport Communicators All-District honoree as well as a 2024 CSC Academic All-American.

A 2024 graduate of North Central, Donovan earned his bachelor's degree in journalism and media communications before receiving his Masters in sports leadership in 2026.

Donovan will officially begin duties on July 1.
