DECORAH, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - "Twenty-four years of coaching, and I've never had a dugout with the type of energy you all had today," head coach
Carl Tebon said in the post game team meeting. The Duhawks fell to the Luther Norse in games one and two of the series, but came back full of energy in game three.
Dylan Pardoe led Loras over the weekend by hitting 6-for-11 with a walk and two runs driven in.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Game 1: Loras-1 Luther-5
-Luther jumped out early in the bottom of the first, and scored three runs on a fielder's choice, an error, and a sacrifice fly.
-The Norse added another run in the 2nd inning on a bases loaded walk.
-It took until the top of the 5th for the Duhawks to score after
Jake Oglesby grounded out with Pardoe on third.
-Luther score again in the 8th on a RBI single to claim the win.
Game 2: Loras-0 Luther-3
-The game was knotted at zeros until the Norse took the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the 4th inning.
-Luther scored again in the bottom half of the 5th to put the team up 3-0.
-The Norse almost added to their lead, but
Joe Egan threw a runner out at the plate.
-The Duhawks left runners on third twice during the game which could have added a spark if they had scored.
Game 3: Loras-8 Luther-5
-Loras jumped out to their first lead of the series on a RBI single by
Robbie Agerbeek that scored
Austin Konagel.
-The Duhawks added one more in the 2nd, and another in the 3rd on a RBI double by Oglesby and a RBI single by Pardoe.
-
Cole Thompson added a RBI in the 5th followed by a 2-RBI single by Agerbeek to put Loras up 6-0 which forced a pitching change.
-Luther got on the board in the bottom of the 5th on a RBI single and two sacrifice flies.
-Trailing 7-3, the Norse brought the game closer by scoring two in the home half of the 7th.
-Loras added an insurance run in the top of 9th due to an error.
NOTABLES
-Game two marked the first time this season that the Duhawks had been shutout.

Erik Edminster started on the mound in game two and made it through seven innings for the third time this season.

Ryan Wohlers made his first start on the mound in a Loras uniform in game three.
-
Tanner Fallon picked up his third save of the season in the 8-5 win.
-Loras had four doubles in their lone series win, and also left 20 runners on base during the three games.

The Duhawks will host the Central College Dutch on Tuesday for the third game of the season series after dropping games one and two on the road last week. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
