Sept. 15, 2019 – The Loras College women's tennis team continued the season's historic run on Saturday, improving to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play following a 9-0 sweep against Buena Vista University and a 6-3 win against Nebraska Wesleyan University at home.

In the opening match against Buena Vista, the Duhawks celebrated wins at No. 1 doubles from the duo of Audrey Hinz and Isabel Schwabe, defeating Alexis McGinnis and Nicole Lange by a score of 8-2, and No. 2 doubles as Samantha Flaningam and Maddie Smith defeated Jaclyn Anderson and Deanna Schaeffer, 8-0.

Against the Beavers, Meghann Lon, Sara Backus Mariana Bayona-Perez, and Molly Monson scored a 6-0, 6-0s win at the No. 1, 3, 4, and 5 singles positions, respectively. Lauren Diiulio added another win at No. 2, defeating Lange 6-1, 6-2.

Loras faced off against Nebraska Wesleyan in the afternoon and had a 2-1 lead following doubles after Bayona-Perez and Smith defeated Shea Swanson and Samantha Slizowski 8-7 at the No. 2 spot and Monson and Backus took an 8-0 win at the No. 3 position. Hinz and Baumann took their match at No. 1 doubles to the tiebreaker but ultimately fell to Brooke Sailer and Kailey Jay-Kissler, 8-7.

The Duhawks extended the lead 4-1 in singles following a forfeit at the No. 6 position and a 6-1, 6-0 win for Schwabe at No. 5. Two wins for the Prairie Wolves at No. 1 and No. 2 singles were not enough as Diiulio won her match at the No. 3 spot and Backus did the same at No. 4, putting the Duhawks ahead 6-3 and solidifying the win.

Loras (7-0, 5-0 A-R-C) will travel to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championship on Thursday, Sept. 19 in St. Peter, Minn.
