September 29, 2019 - The No. 13 Loras College men's soccer team (9-1-1) hosted the Coe College Kohawks (4-6) in the first American Rivers Conference match-up of the season on Saturday night, scoring a 4-0 win. The Duhawks hold a 25-2-1 all-time record against the Kohawks with a 14-0 record at home.

Tigrio Huerta gave Loras an early lead as a foul on the Coe keeper caused a pentaly kick. Huerta finished the pentaly nicely giving the Duhawks the lead just over six minutes in. The Duhawks kept constant pressure on the Kohawks as Coe had very few chances early on. This pressure eventualy lead to another goal in the twenty first minute. Tiernan Talbot volleyed home a pass from Manny Lopez to make it 2-0. Mark Broderick was also credited with an assist on the goal.

Loras kept the pressure on, ending the half with 20 shots, but were unable to find another goal in the first half. Coe had a few chances as they recorded five shots in the first half but they were unable to cap any off.

Just over ten minutes into the second half, Loras extended the lead through a Kohawk own goal off of a Loras cross. Less than a minute later, Kevin Kucaba finished off a rebound from a Huerta shot making it 4-0.

Loras kept the pressure on until the end but they were unable to find another goal. Loras ended the game with 38 shots and 11 on goal while Coe had 5 shots and 2 on goal. Goalkeepers Jesse Buffington and Jack Monson kept the clean sheet for the Duhawks. Buffington recorded two saves in the match.

Loras will travel to De Pere, WI on Wednesday Oct. 2. as they face St. Norbert College (5-2-2). The Duhawks are hoping to keep their good form going as they face a tough St. Norbert team. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Schneider Stadium.
