The Loras College women's volleyball team moved to 6-1 after defeating St. Norbert and No. 11 Gustavus Adolphus Friday night at the Loras Invitational.

After trading blows for much of the first set, the Duhawks closed the set 25-22. In the second set, the Green Knights went on a 4-0 run to take a 18-17 lead. A pair of errors by St. Norbert allowed Loras to level at 20-20. The Duhawks closed the second set after an error by St. Norbert.
Loras went on a 6-0 run to start the third set. The Green Knights battled back to level at 13-all. Back-to-back kills by Kinney and sophomore
Kendra Cave allowed the Duhawks to close the match 26-24.
The Duhawks traded blows with No. 11 Gustavus Adolphus, winning the first, third and fourth sets (25-19, 17-25, 28-26, 25-21).
Kayla Kinney led the charge with 17 kills, while Loras held a 57-49 kill advantage.
Leading 19-16, the Duhawks earned set point at 24-18 following a double block by Roling and Alberto. The Gusties flipped the script and stole the momentum after a 10-5 run for a 20-15 lead and closed on a 5-0 run to even the match at 1-1.
Loras pulled away in the third set after Gustavus Adolphus held set point at 26-25 before a 3-0 run resulted in a 28-26 win for the Purple & Gold.
The momentum didn't last for long as the Gusties powered back for a 10-7 advantage. Before too long, the Duhawks gathered themselves and fought back to level ground at 15-all before a 10-6 run ended the match, 25-21.
Loras will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 against non-conference opponent Washington University in St. Louis. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
