Mark Broderick and
Tigrio Huerta led the Duhawks scoring two goals a piece to move Loras to 4-0-1 on the year, while Elmhurst falls to 2-2-1 with the loss.
The Duhawks held a 8-5 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes and ended with a 20-12 advantage.Â
"Elmhurst is a tough team with some great players, we battled for most of this game," said head coach
Dan Rothert. "We led at the half for the first time this season and I am very proud of that."
Broderick opened up the scoring in the 5th minute netting a ball that got away from the Blue Jay keeper.
Elmhurst Freshman James Serrano netted the equalizer in the 10th minute.
Broderick scored his second goal of the day and third of the season in the 17th minute thanks to
Raudel Fierro's cross from outside the box.
In the 86th minute, Huerta made a defender fall and chipped the ball to the top left corner of the net to earn his first goal of the game.Â
Huerta's penalty goal in the final seconds of regulation put the exclamation point on the win.
Loras will travel to face non-conference opponent St. John's University on Friday Sept. 13. First kick is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.Â
