LINCOLN, Neb. (Oct. 24, 2020) – The Loras College women's tennis team scored a 7-2 victory on Saturday against Nebraska Wesleyan University (0-7), improving to 4-2 on the season.
In doubles play, the Duhawks started with a 2-1 lead and never looked back after
Sara Backus and
Lauren Diiulio won the No. 2 match against Natalie Reynolds and Carley Rubenking, 8-0 and
Alexandra Oestreich and
Jackie Wells defeated Nicole Cerio and Ava Johnson, 8-1, at the No. 3 position.
In singles,
Isabel Schwabe defeated Reynolds at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1 and
Mariana Bayona Paez won her match at No. 3 singles against Kailey Jay-Kissler, 6-3, 6-1.
Molly Monson defeated Johnson at No. 5 by a score of 6-2, 6-3 and Lisa Reed won the No. 6 match against Cerio, 6-4, 6-2.
Clair Moore is now 10-1 in singles play after winning the No. 4 match against Rubenking, 6-1, 6-1.
The Duhawks were one of three sports permitted to compete during the fall season due to COVID-19 restrictions and will now turn the focus to the preparations for the team championship in the spring.
