Mar. 13, 2020 - On Friday, March 13, 2020, The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Presidents Council met to discuss the COVID-19 Coronavirus situation.
Based on the advice received from state, federal, and other public health authorities, with the priority being focusing on the health and well-being of our campus communities, it is with unprecedented sadness the Presidents Council concluded that all conference competition will be cancelled, effective Friday, March 13, 2020, for the remainder of the spring season. The cancellation includes all A-R-C spring regular season competition, championships, and awards.
The announcement comes one day after NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men's and women's 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This immediately affected Loras student-athletes set to compete at the Division III Wrestling Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Indoor Track and Field Championship in Winston-Salem, N.C., and the Sweet 16 for the Women's Basketball Tournament.
The decision also includes practices, non-traditional spring seasons, non-conference season competition, women's lacrosse competition in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference, and men's volleyball competition in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
The A-R-C eagerly awaits news from the NCAA regarding lost eligibility for all student-athletes affected by the nation-wide health pandemic.
