DECATUR, Ill. (Mar. 8, 2020) – The Loras College baseball team (1-6) fell behind early against St. Norbert College (2-1) and could not overcome the deficit falling 5-2. In the second game of the day, the Duhawks found themselves in a back-and-forth match up versus Millikin University (4-4) but was undone by the Big Blue, 4-3.

In the first game, the Duhawks fell behind early after St. Norbert put up a total of three runs through the first three innings while Loras went scoreless through three. Dylan Pardoe got things started for the Duhawks in the top of the fifth inning after hitting a single up the middle while Adam Metivier hit Pardoe home after doubling to right field. Dakota Church put the ball in play scoring Meitvier after the first baseman committed an error cutting the Green Knights' lead, 3-2. St. Norbert responded by adding runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth extending their lead to 5-2. The Duhawks would get runners into scoring position but could not capitalize as St. Norbert defeated the Duhawks 5-2.

In the second game of the day, the Duhawks and Big Blue traded back-to-back scoreless innings as both teams got runners on base but could not get runs on the board. Loras struck first in the bottom of the third inning as Metivier singled to get things started before Church laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt advancing Metivier to second base. In the following at-bat, Joe Egan doubled to right center scoring Metivier to put the Duhawks ahead 1-0. The Big Blue went three-up-three-down in the bottom of the inning as Curtis Lilienthal struck out the last two batters swinging. Millikin would add two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead but Church quickly put the Big Blue's rally to an end catching two runners stealing to end the inning. Millikin added one more run in the bottom of the fifth inning as the score is now 3-1 heading into the sixth inning. Luke Fennelly got things started in the top of the sixth for the Duhawks by hitting a triple down the left-field line before Wohlers hit an RBI single to left field. Pardoe doubled down the left-field line scoring Wohlers tying the game 3-3. The Big Blue would regain the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the following two innings, the Duhawks would attempt to regain the lead but came up short falling to Millikin 4-3.

The Duhawks will head down to Auburndale, Florida for a six-game stint starting with one game on Wednesday, March 11 against Olivet College.
