WAVERLY, Iowa (Jan. 29, 2021) – The Loras College women's track and field team put on a display across the board in the 2021 season opener on Friday night, crushing lifetime bests and program records all while setting some of the nation's top times at the Friday Night Lights Meet at Wartburg College.

The Duhawks started the meet off strong with a win in the weight throw by Carly Fischer, throwing a distance of 15.90 meters. Marion Edwards started her season off with a lifetime best in the prelims for the 60-meter dash (7.79 seconds) only to best that time in the finals with a time of 7.77 to win the event and rank first in Division III. She added a win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.93, just missing her lifetime best, but clocking another nation leading time.

Picking up where she left off after cross country season, Kassie Rosenbum made a statement in the 3,000-meter run, winning the race with a lifetime best time of 9:48.63 and nearly ten seconds ahead of the second-place finisher to clock the second fastest time in program history and second in Division III. Brianna Renner added a huge lifetime best performance in the event and moved into the program's top-ten list with a time of 10:38.25.

Elayna Bahl won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.07, ranking second nationally, and added a second-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.57 meters while De'ja Austin-Cherry added a third-place finish in the long jump (4.94 meters) and triple jump (10.78 meters). The 4-by-400-meter relay of Edwards, Bahl, Alyssa Pfadenhauer and Stevie Lambe capped off the meet with the nation's fastest time, winning the event with a time of 3:58.63.

Loras will take the short trip down the street to the University of Dubuque on Saturday, Feb. 6, competing against the Spartans and Simpson College. Events begin at noon at A.Y McDonald Indoor Track.
