Cox, Cummins, and Cabalka Help Lift Loras to Solid Start to Indoor Season

December 6, 2025

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Loras College women's track and field team began its indoor slate this weekend by spreading its lineup across two meets, sending sprinters and jumpers to the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh (UW–Oshkosh while the throwers went to the University of Dubuque (UD).

Caitlyn Cox opened her senior season in strong fashion, winning the weight throw at the University of Dubuque with a mark of 18.97 meters. The performance set a new facility record and is expected to rank among the top marks in Division III once national lists are updated. It is also a distance that would qualify her for the national championships.

At UW–Oshkosh, Grace Cummins and the 4x400-meter relay team paced the Duhawks. Cummins won the high jump with a clearance of 1.55 meters after a competitive jump-off, while the relay squad of Layla Hughes, Katie Flynn, Bryn Meyer and Rosie Flynn claimed the top spot in 4:05.49.
In the pentathlon, freshman Andelyn Cabalka totaled 2,288 points in her debut, placing her 10th all-time in program history. She won the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles in 9.37 seconds and took second in the long jump with a mark of 5.17 meters.

Up next: The Purple and Gold travels to Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday, Jan. 17, for the Bumble Rumble hosted by SAU.
