Oct. 5, 2021 – The Loras College women's tennis team (4-4, 2-3 A-R-C) cruised to an 8-1 victory against St. Ambrose University (2-3) in a non-conference contest on Tuesday as the Duhawks continue their home stand of matches at the Tucker Tennis Courts.
Loras took a 3-0 in doubles play, making it difficult for the Bees to fight back.
Lauren Diiulio and
Isabel Schwabe scored an 8-6 win against Kiersten Housenga and Maggie Sullivan at the No. 1 spot while
Dorothy Deans and
Sara Backus came away with an 8-4 win at No. 2 against Kaylee Camp and Kelsey Jaeger.
Clair Moore and
Alex Oestreich competed the sweet with an 8-2 win at No. 3 against Paige Bily and Alison Hanson.
Schwabe made quick work of Camp in the No. 2 singles match, grabbing the first singles win of the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Diiulio sealed the win for Loras with a 6-3, 7-6 win against Housenga at No. 1 and Moore added a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3 against Sullivan. Deans won her No. 5 match against Bily, 6-3, 7-5 and
Maddy Sampson-Brown pulled through with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 marathon match to grab her first collegiate win at No. 6 against Alison Hanson.
The Duhawks resume American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play with a pair of matches on Saturday, Oct. 9. The Duhawks start the day against Nebraska Wesleyan University and conclude with a match against Buena Vista University in the afternoon.
