Swim and Dive Edged by Prairie Wolves in Dual Meet on the Road

Nov. 5, 2021 – Loras College swim and dive traveled to Lincoln, Neb. to take on the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan University on Friday night to compete in their first of two dual meets against the A-R-C foe of the weekend.

The women's 200 yard medley relay team of Moran Haus, Artie Kerchmar, Elli Stine, and Kendra Sirianni took second, earning a total of four points for the meet. The men took both third and fifth, totaling for two points. Molly Strohmeyer took second in two events including the 1000 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke. Taylor Hrabak also took second in two events, both the 200 and 500 yard freestyle.

For the men, Zach Nelson and Austin Jorgensen combined for five points in the 200 yard freestyle. Brad LaGrange and Jon Broas earned four points for the Duhawks in the 200 Yard IM. Noah James also eared a top three finish in the 100 yard butterfly, accounting for 3 of 6 total points for the Duhawks in this event. Brian Day earned a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.82.

Kerchmar and Amber Forbort also performed well for the women. They each placed second in their respective events, Kerchmar in the 100 yard breaststroke and Forbort in the 100 yard butterfly.

Both the men's and women's 200 yard freestyle relay teams performed well. The men's team consisting of Kevin McMillan, Charles Holmes, Jorgensen, and LaGrange placed second with a time of 1:36.83. The women's team made up of Hrabak, Forbort, Ann Quinn, and Strohmeyer earned a first place finish for their time 1:49.36.

Despite competitive times and strong efforts in the pool, the Prairie Wolves came away with the win with the women being edged 124-61, and the men 168-37.

The Duhawks get another shot against the Prairie Wolves on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Weary Natatorium in Lincoln, Neb. The meet is scheduled to get under way at 10:00 AM.
