DECORAH, Iowa (Feb. 13, 2021) – The No. 4-ranked Loras College women's track and field team put on a dominant display at the Luther College Triangular on Saturday, winning the second-straight American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) triangular this season against the Norse and Coe College while seeing more Duhawks make their marks in program history and among the top-competitors in Division III.
Alyssa Pfadenhauer led the charge for the Duhawks in the 55-meter dash, winning the event in a personal-best time of 7.52 seconds followed by
Stevie Lambe with a time of 7.55 as the Duhawks went 1-6 in the finals. Pfadenhauer added another win in the 200-meter dash (26.40) and
Kelly Kohlhof finished second with a personal-best 26.95. Lambe (59.44) and
Elayna Bahl (1:01.76) finished first and second, respectively, in the 400-meter dash with Lambe's time ranking fifth on the national leader board and
Kaylee Osterberger added a win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.95.
The Duhawks kept it going with three of the top-five finishers in the mile, led by
Alexis Riesberg with a time of 5:31.64 and
Abby Landwehr (5:39.14) and
Cheyenne Shaw (5:48.16) placing third and fifth. Bahl and
Bailey Vance took the top two spots in the 55-meter hurdles with Bahl winning the event with a time of 8.66 and Vance placing second (8.90). The 4-by-400-meter relay team of Osterberger, Kohlhof, Lambe and Pfadenhauer won the race with a time of 4:11.30, putting a five-second gap between the Norse in second.
In the field events, freshman
Sophia Schuler leapt her way into the program record book with a win in the long jump, jumping a distance of 5.36 meters to rank eighth in Loras history and 12th nationally.
Grace Alley (10.43 meters) and
De'ja Austin-Cherry (10.42 meters) finished first and second in the triple jump and
Hannah Insko added a second place finish in the pole vault with a personal best height of 2.60 meters. Freshman
Sara Hoskins won the high jump (1.42 meters) and in the throws,
Courtney Schnoor won the shot put with a distance of 12.22 meters followed by
Kayla Weatherly with a mark of 11.56 meters while Carly Fisher led the Duhawks to the top-four places in the weight throw with a winning heave of 16.02 meters.
Loras tallied 12 individual event wins and won the meet with a decisive 143 points followed by the host Norse with 86 and the Kohawks with 34.
The Duhawks continue A-R-C competition on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Wartburg College against the No. 2-ranked Knights and No. 11 ranked Nebraska Wesleyan University. Events begin at 10 A.M.
