No. 2 Women's Track and Field Wins Final A-R-C Triangular

PELLA, Iowa (Feb. 27, 2021) – The No. 2-ranked Loras College women's track and field team won the final American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) triangular of the 2021 season on Saturday, defeating No. 6 Central College and Buena Vista University in Pella, and celebrated a top-ten performance by Kayla Weatherly in the shot put.

Weatherly's huge lifetime throw in the shot put sparked the energy for the Duhawks as she won the event with a heave of 13.26 meters which ranks sixth in program history and ninth nationally. Courtney Schnoor added a lifetime best throw of 12.36 meters to place second in the event and Carly Fischer added a second place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 16.03 meters. Grace Alley led the Duhawks to finish first, second and third in the high jump, clearing 1.57 meters to win the event while Sara Hoskins and Hannah Zortmann both cleared 1.52 meters.

Kassie Rosenbum remained undefeated in the mile run, cruising to an 11-second margin of victory with a time of 5:03.47. Erin Phelan scored her first collegiate win in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 21:38.82 as did Kelly Kohlhof in the 200-meter dash (27.11) with Sophia Schuler placing second (27.44). Alyssa Pfadenhauer made her 800-meter debut, placing second with a time of 2:23.86 and Elayna Bahl won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.25 seconds. Marion Edwards led the all Loras 60-meter dash finals to win with a time of 7.87 seconds, followed by Stevie Lambe (7.99) in second and Pfadenhauer in third (8.17). 

The Duhawks won the meet with 111 points, topping the host Dutch with 80 and Buena Vista with 72.

Loras will now shift focus to the A-R-C Championship on Saturday, Mar. 6 at Wartburg College. This year's championship features a two-day format with the women competing Saturday and the men competing Sunday. For more information about the championship, click HERE.
