STORM LAKE, Iowa (Mar. 20, 2021) – The Loras College men's tennis team (5-3, 1-0 A-R-C) scored its third-straight win and opened American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) competition with a 9-0 sweep against Buena Vista University (0-1, 0-1 A-R-C) on Saturday.
Loras got things going in doubles play as
Kevin Blomquist and
Thomas Kampmier scored an 8-4 win at the No. 1 position against Brendan Schlader and Danny Kramer,
Tommy Linkenheld and
Konnor Barth defeated Aaron Mumm and Kris Mintle at No. 2, 8-1, and
Sean Gelski and
Connor Pivnicka won the No. 3 match against Michael Schreck and Joshua Woolcott, 8-2. Leading 3-0 heading into singles,
Konnor Barth and
Eian Coad both scored quick 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 5 and 6 matches, respectively, and
Tommy Linkenheld added a 6-1, 6-0 win against Mumm at the No. 2 position.
Joe Schneider defeated Mintle, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 and
Riley Collins won his match at No. 2 singles against Schlader 6-2, 6-4 while Blomquist battled through a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 marathon to win the tiebreaker at the No. 1 position against Kramer.
The Duhawks look to continue the streak on Sunday, Mar. 21, playing Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Neb. Matches begin at 10 A.M.
