Mar. 27, 2021 – Led by another record-setting performance by
Kassie Rosenbum, the Loras College women's track and field team returned to the track for the first time in nearly 700 days to compete at a pair of meets to begin the outdoor season, sending the track events to the Elmhurst University Earlybird Invitational and the field events to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday.
Rosenbum claimed her fourth school record with her win in the 3,000-meter run, defeating the second-place finisher by nearly one minute with a time of 9:57.10. She posted the first sub-ten-minute time in program history, besting Jenny Richey's record of 10:04.96 set in 1999.
Elayna Bahl claimed a pair of wins as she swept the hurdles, winning the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.99 seconds and leading
Bailey Vance (16.23 seconds) and
Merryl Green (16.77 seconds) to sweep the top spots. In the 400-meter hurdles, Bahl won with a time of 1:06.02 followed by Green (1:09.75) and Vance (1:10.84).
Kaylee Osterberger added a second-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:21.75) and teamed up with Green,
Sam Heavlin and sister
Ellie Osterberger in the 4-by-400-meter relay to finish second with a time of 4:13.07.
At Platteville,
Terrianna Black won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.32 seconds and the triple jump (11.23 meters) in addition to a second-place finish in the long jump with a jump of 5.20 meters. Â
Carly Fischer won the discus with a throw of 41.63 meters and placed third in the hammer throw (39.31 meters).
Sara Hoskins won the high jump with a leap of 1.57 meters to lead the one-two finish for the Duhawks with
Grace Alley finishing second at 1.57 meters as well.
The Duhawks look to build on the success and will compete on their home track on Thursday, Arp. 1 for the Loras Easter Midweek Invitational. Field events begin at 11 A.M with running events starting at 12:30 P.M.
