STORM LAKE, Iowa (Apr. 10, 2021) - The Loras College men's soccer team (3-0-2, 3-0-2 A-R-C) made the trip to Storm Lake, Iowa on Saturday to face the Buena Vista Beavers (0-5-0, 0-5-0 A-R-C) in their second road match in three days. Freshman Reed Miklavcic had a career night, scoring three goals in the match for his first career hat trick to help guide the Duhawks to a 5-2 victory.

Connor McGarry got things going for the Duhawks early in the match, putting a shot past Buena Vista goalkeeper Jared Daniel in the sixth minute to give Loras a one goal advantage early.

Alex Beausoleil padded the lead further in the 18th minute on a pass from Juan David Aristizibal, notching his second goal of the season and taking the score to 2-0.

Two minutes later it was Miklavcic who posted his first goal of the season in the 20th minute, scoring an unassisted goal and extending the Loras lead to three goals before the Beavers answered in the 32nd minute to cut the Duhawks' lead back to two going into halftime with the score at 3-1.

In the 57th minute of the match, Sebastian Onofre Rolon marched the ball down field and placed a perfect ball at the feet of Miklavcic for his second goal of the night to take the score to 4-1 before doing it all over again eight minutes later. In the 65th minute, Miklavcic received a pass from Ethan Kelly and rifled a shot into the back of the net to complete the hat trick and put the score at 5-1 in favor of the Duhawks.

Buena Vista added another goal to their total late in the second half but it wouldn't be enough as the Duhawks took the match 5-2 for their third victory of the season.

The Duhawks outshot the Beavers 14-3, pounding Daniel in goal with seven shots on net. Miklavcic led the offense for Loras with five shots, four shots on goal and three goals. McGarry and Beausoleil each posted one shot on goal with each finding the back of the net. Michael Pifer rounded out the attack with one shot on goal while Kelly, Aristizibal and Onofre Rolon each had an assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Thomas Roche made his first career start in net for the Duhawks, facing three shots on goal in the full 90 minutes, allowing two goals and making one save.

Loras returns home on Tuesday, Apr. 13 as they play host to the Wartburg College Knights in an American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) matchup. The match is slated to begin at 5:00 PM at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque, Iowa.
