WAVERLY, Iowa (Apr. 10, 2021) – A drizzly and dreary day in Waverly did not have a negative impact on the No. 6-ranked Loras College women's track and field team as the Duhawks secured a second-place team finish thanks to a record-setting performance by
Kassie Rosenbum and an outstanding showing by
Brianna Renner in the steeplechase at the Wartburg College Outdoor Select Meet on Saturday.
Grace Alley was the first competitor to get things rolling for the Duhawks as she won the heptathlon in her first time competing in the event with 4,177 points, ranking seventh all-time and third in the nation.
Brianna Renner kept it going with the second-fastest time in Loras history in the steeplechase to start action on Saturday with a time of 11:26.93 and
Alyssa Pfadenhauer added a win in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.54, good for third in Division III.
Kassie Rosenbum smashed the school-record in the 5,000-meter run, winning the race with a time of 16:45.82 to best the previous mark by nearly 15 seconds and ranks second on the qualifying list. She also won the race by nearly three minutes
Terrianna Black won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.19 seconds while
Stevie Lambe won the 200-meter dash with a lifetime best time of 25.26, moving her up in the all-time list to seventh.
Kaylee Osterberger had a lifetime best time for a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run (4:53.93) and
Elayna Bahl had a lifetime best performance in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.54 seconds to win the event and rank eighth all-time.
Bailey Vance added a third-place finish in the event with a time of 15.29 seconds and
Hannah Insko was the runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 2.75 meters.
Merryl Green added a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.54.
In the field events, Black added a third-place finish in the long jump (5.00 meters) and
Michelle Budden and
Courtney Schnoor added top-three finishes in the hammer throw with Budden winning the event with a toss of 46.97 meters and Schnoor finishing third (43.24 meters). Schnoor (11.96 meters) and
Kayla Weatherly (11.91 meters) added another one-two finish in the shot put. The relay teams also put up strong performances as the 4-by-100-meter quartet of Black, Lambe, Pfadenhauer and Bahl won the race with a time of 48.72 and the 4-by-400-meter relay of Lambe, Bahl, Pfadenhauer and Green won in a time of 3:57.57.
The Duhawks are back in action on Saturday, Apr. 17, traveling to Rock Island, Ill. to compete at Augustana College.
