CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Apr. 22, 2021) – Starting a full slate of match play over the next four days, the Loras College men's tennis team (8-4, 3-1 A-R-C) faced a tough matchup against Coe College (13-3, 7-0 A-R-C) on Thursday, falling 8-1 at the hands of the Kohawks.
Coe took the No. 2 doubles match to open with a 1-0 lead but both
Kevin Blomquist and
Thomas Kampmier at No. 1 doubles and
Connor Pivnicka and
Riley Collins at No. 3 posed challenging for the Kohawks, forcing Coe to 8-5 decisions in both matches. Leading 3-0, the Kohawk took the first two singles matches at No. 1 and 2 to secure the win and
Tommy Linkenheld looked to make his move in the No. 3 match against Nathan Meskell, winning four games in the first set, but dropped the match 6-4, 6-1. The Kohawks won the No. 4 and 5 matches as well but
Eian Coad came away with a win at the No. 6 position against Jack Cook, winning the first set 6-2 before pulling out a thrilling 7-6 win in the second set to win the match.
Loras returns to the court less than 24 hours removed from the Coe match on Friday, Apr. 23, hosting Simpson College at 4 P.M.
