Apr. 23, 2021 – The Loras College men's tennis team played its second match in as many days on Friday and improved to 4-1 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) action on Friday, scoring an 8-1 win against Simpson College (4-10, 1-5 A-R-C) at the Tucker Tennis Courts.
Thomas Kampmier and
Kevin Blomquist scored a quick 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position before
Tommy Linkenheld and
Konnor Barth added an 8-4 win at No. 2.
Riley Collins and
Connor Pivnicka completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3, giving Loras the 3-0 advantage heading into singles action.
Blomquist kept it rolling at No. 1 singles, swiftly defeating Reade Rieter, 6-1, 6-1. Barth solidified the Duhawks' win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 against Brett Dewerff and Linkenheld put Loras up 6-0 win a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 against Caleb Vasconez. Collins battled back from a 7-6 first-set deficit at No. 2 against Aaron Price before posting a 6-0 win in the second set and winning the tiebreaker 10-6 to take the match. Simpson won the No. 4 match but
Eian Coad came back with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 against Ethan Humble to drive home the win.
The Duhawks are back at the Tucker Tennis Courts on Sunday, Apr. 25 to host Central College. Match play begins at 1:00 P.M.
