DES MOINES, Iowa (Apr. 23, 2021) – The No. 4-ranked Loras College women's track and field team saw success against a diverse competitive field at the Kip Janvrin on Friday with strong performances across multiple events, an individual title for
Carly Fischer, and more program top-ten marks.
Fischer had a phenomenal day in the throwing events, winning the hammer throw with a toss of 50.11 meters, good for seventh in program history. She also added a fifth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 39.71 meters. De'Ja Austin-Cherry moved herself into Loras' all-time list with a second-place finish in the triple jump and leading all Division III competitors, jumping 11.09 meters to rank tenth all-time.
Kaylee Osterberger was the runner-up in the 800-meter dash (2:18.30), crossing the line behind a Division I competitor from the University of North Dakota.
Merryl Green placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.17, coming in as the top Division III hurdler.
The Duhawks return to Waverly, Iowa for the second time this season on Friday, Apr. 30 for the Wartburg College Friday Night Lights Meet. Events begin at noon.
