Apr. 29, 2021 – The Loras College men's tennis team (10-6, 5-3 A-R-C) finished the regular season at home on Thursday and defeated Wartburg College (9-12, 3-4 A-R-C) by a score of 6-3 to head into the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) tournament in a week with momentum.
Riley Collins and
Connor Pivnicka scored the first win of the afternoon at No. 3 doubles, defeating Nile Petersen and Jared Hefel, 8-3. The Knights took the No. 1 match and pulled ahead, 2-1, with an 8-7 win at the No. 2 match. Loras regained momentum with five-straight wins in singles play to clinch the win, sparked by a No. 4 win for
Joe Schneider, defeating Hunter Gerhardt 6-0, 6-1, before
Eian Coad added a 6-2, 6-1 win against Petersen at No. 5 and
Tommy Linkenheld added another at No. 3, defeating Cade Davis 6-4, 6-4. The 6-4, 6-3 win for Collins at No. 2 singles against Jackson Eells secured Loras' victory and
Thomas Kampmier capped off the matches with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 6 position.
The Duhawks will begin the 2021 A-R-C Automatic Qualifier Tournament on May 4 and host Wartburg back at the Tucker Tennis Courts.
