No. 3 Duhawks' Relays Impress at Wartburg

WAVERLY, IOWA (Apr. 30, 2021) – The No. 3-ranked Loras College women's track and field team saw its relay squads shine and scored multiple event wins at the Wartburg College Friday Night Lights Meet with the 4-by-400-meter relay distancing itself atop the national leader board and setting a new school record in the process.

It was another strong showing for the Duhawk relays as the 4-by-100-meter relay of Stevie Lambe, Alyssa Pfadenhauer, Marion Edwards and Terrianna Black ran a season-best time of 47.60, good for fifth on Loras' all-time list and the second-fastest in Division III. Lambe, Edwards, Pfadenhauer and Elayna Bahl brought the crowd to their feet with a school-record performance in the 4-by-400-meter relay at the end of the meet, setting the time to beat in Division III by nearly six seconds to win the event in 3:44.87.

Brianna Renner won the 3,000-meter steeplechase by a nearly 90-second margin (11:21.13) and Kaylee Osterberger had personal best finishes in the 1,500-meter run with Kaylee running the tenth fastest time in Loras history to finish third (4:45.44). Edwards added a personal best in the 100-meter dash, winning the event in a time of 12.28 seconds and now ranks eighth in program history. In the 5,000-meter run, Alexis Riesberg had a personal-best time of 18:58.25 to place third overall and Pfadenhauer won the 200-meter dash with the tenth-fastest time in program history and a personal best (25.29 seconds) with  Lambe in second with a time of 25.36 seconds.

In the field events, Black wasted no time getting things going for the Duhawks to start the meet as she posted a huge personal best in the triple jump, leaping 12.28 meters and coming closer within striking distance of the school record. Carly Fischer placed second in the discus with nearly a meter personal best, throwing 42.69 meters which ranks her 14th nationally and tenth in program history. Grace Alley scored a third-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.54 meters and Michelle Budden placed third in the hammer throw, tossing 49.83 meters, moving her up to eighth all-time in the event.

Loras finished third with 168 points while No. 1 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the meet with 217.5 points and the hosts No. 8-ranked Wartburg finished second, narrolwy edging the Duhawks with 170.25 points.

The Duhawks are back in action on Friday, May 7 inside the Rock Bowl for the Dr. Tucker Open. Running events begin at 2:00 P.M with field events before.
