BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Sept. 11, 2021) - The Loras College men's soccer team (3-1-1, 0-0-0 A-R-C) took off for Bloomington, Ill. Saturday afternoon for another contest on the road against Illinois Wesleyan University (0-3-0, 0-0-0 CCIW). After falling behind early in the game, a second-half scoring surge sparked by Max Ellenbecker in the 62nd minuted pushed the Duhawks to a 3-2 victory.

The Titans got on the board early in the game, netting their first goal in the fourth minute to go ahead by one going into the half. Illinois Wesleyan added another goal in the 54th minute to take a two-goal lead on Loras before Ellenbecker found the back of the net on an unassisted goal for his first career goal in the purple in gold.

Ellenbecker's goal got the ball rolling for the Duhawks, as they continued to pound the net, seeing the effort continue to pay off mere minutes later as Juan Jose Arias Mondragon netted his second goal of the season wwith the assist going to Diego Rodriguez

Not five minutes later, American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Defensive Player of the Week Kyler Donovan tallied his first goal of the season, scoring the game-winning goal in the 71st minute of the game to solidify the 3-2 win.

Connor Fitzpatrick got the start in net for the Duhawks, turning away two of the four shots on goal he faced in the 90 minutes. Mondragon excelled offensively, firing off six shots in the game with two on net, while Kevin Kucaba and Tigrio Huerta added three apiece.

The Duhawks are back in action on Monday, Sept. 13 as they host the Monmouth College Scots in a non-conference matchup. The game is slated to kick-off at 7:30 PM at the Rock Bowl.
