Sept. 18, 2021 - The Loras College men's soccer team (5-1-1, 0-0-0 A-R-C) continued their non-conference section of their schedule Saturday night, taking on the Millikin University Big Blue (0-5-1, 0-0-0 CCIW). Junior forward
Alex Beausoleil shined for the Duhawks, posting two goals on the night to bring his goal scoring total to three on the year as the Duhawks claimed a 4-0 win, marking their third-straight victory.
The Duhawks wasted no time jumping on the Millikin defense and pressed hard to the net from the get-go, seeing the work pay off early in the 10th minute as
Tigrio Huerta carried the ball down the field and placed a perfect pass to
Juan Jose Arias Mondragon, who touched it across the net to
Patrick Clancy for his sixth goal of the year.
Ten minutes later it was Mondragon's turn to score, as Huerta recorded his second assist on the night putting another great ball across the field to bring the score to 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.
The 30th minute of the game saw Beausoleil score his first of the night on a pass from
Kevin Kucaba to go into the halftime break with a three goal advantage.
The Duhawks continued to take advantage of the Millikin back line in the second half, this time seeing Mondragon find Beausoleil down field for his second goal of the night in the 58th minute to secure the 4-0 win.
The Loras back line did a tremendous job shutting down any offense the Big Blue presented, holding Millikin to just four shots on goal while the Duhawks hammered goalkeeper Jon Kuebler with 18 shots on goal. Beausoleil's two-goal performance marks the first multi-goal game of his career, bringing his total to three on the season while Clancy leads the team with six goals on the year. Senior goalkeeper
Connor Fitzpatrick recorded his second straight shutout in goal, turning away all four of the shots on goal he faced.
The Duhawks return to the Rock Bowl on Sept. 22 as they play host to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 PM.
