BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Sept. 4, 2021) – With the matches being moved indoors to combat the weather, the Loras College men's tennis team (0-1) opened the 2021 season on Saturday but fell 8-1 to the Greenville University Panthers (1-0).
The Duhawks opened the match with two tightly contested doubles matches.
Kevin Blomquist and
Thomas Kampmier came up short in an 8-5 decision at No. 1 to Clark Kent and Lucas Motsinger and
Tommy Linkenheld and
Konnor Barth forced an 8-7 tie-breaker in the No. 2 match. The Panthers kept the momentum into singles play to seal the win but
Eian Coad posted a win at the No. 6 match against Matthew Rodriguez, 6-3, 6-2.
Loras' next match will be at home at the Tucker Tennis Courts as the Duhawks open the home slate against Saint Ambrose University on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Matches begin at 3:30 P.M.
