CHICAGO, Ill. (Sept. 8, 2021) - The Loras College men's soccer team (2-1-1, 0-0-0 A-R-C) traveled east to Chicago, Ill. on Wednesday afternoon to take on College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) foe in North Park University, who entered the season ranked No. 12 in United Soccer Coaches' 2021 Preseason Poll. Despite a hard-fought 90 minutes of play, the Duhawks fell to North Park for their first loss of the season.
North Park put the pressure on early in the game, taking eight shots on goal in the first half, tallying four goals before adding another goal in the second half.
Senior goalkeeper Seth Kurzyinski made five saves on the night before
Connor Fitzpatrick made an appearance in goal in the second half. Fitzpatrick, a senior from Eugene, Ore. faced ten shots, making threesaves on the night.
Offensively the Duhawks put the pressure on late in the game, taking five shots in the second half and amassed six shots in the game, led by sophomore forward
Reed Miklavcic who had two while
Kevin Kucaba,
Tigrio Huerta,
Carson Woods and
Bryan Basinger had one each.
The Duhawks are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 11 as they take on another CCIW opponent on the road in Illinois Wesleyan University. The game is slated to begin at 3:30 PM in Bloomington, Ill.
