DAVENPORT, Iowa (Jan. 15, 2022) – In its first outing of the new year, the Loras College women's track and field team captured the team title to go with nine event wins, four top-ten all-time marks and three of Division III's top-ten times this season at the St. Ambrose University Battle in the Hive on Saturday.
Marion Edwards, who owns the top-time in the 60-meter dash nationally, led a top-four sweep in the 60-meter dash prelims with
Harmony Creasy,
Elayna Bahl and
Alyssa Pfadenhauer before winning the event in 7.76. She also won the 200-meter dash in a personal-best 25.61 ranking her third all-time and second in Division III while Pfadenhauer finished second in 26.10, good for ninth on Loras' all-time list and seventh in the nation. The duo also closed out the meet with Bahl and
Merryl Green in the 4-by-400-meter relay, running 3:56.81 which took two seconds off their season-opening time and ranks first in Division III.
In the 800-meter run,
Marianne Gleason scored her first college win with a time of 2:35.32 and
Valerie Herbst ran the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 1,000-meter run, winning the race in 3:05.47 by nearly nine seconds. Bahl added another win in the 60-meter hurdles, running 8.96 which ranks seventh in Division III, and
Ellie Osterberger (5:25.43) and
Alexis Riesberg (5:33.43) finished first and second, respectively, in the mile.Â
In the field events, Creasy led a 1-2 finish for the Duhawks in the long jump with the tenth-farthest leap in program history, jumping 5.31 meters while
Morgan Ramirez finished second, jumping 5.21 meters.
Sara Hoskins also added an individual title in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters.
Taylor Flaig finished third in the weight throw, throwing 14.45 meters.
The Duhawks won the meet with 150 points while Grand View University came in second (110 points) and Augustana College placed third (82).
Loras' next meet is set for Saturday, Jan. 22 as the team heads to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the Karl Schneider Invite.
